A cliche if there ever was one. Might as well have 'ancient and loyal' or some other such dreary phrase. At least the current motto relates to the club's name.

Why does the motto have to be in Latin though? It sounds a bit pretentious. Fair enough if it had been the club's motto for ages, in the old days that was the norm, using Latin mottos, but the fact we only chose it a year or so ago seems a bit naff to me.

We could have had an English soundbite instead, like Tough on Pies, Tough on the Causes of Pies.

Pies were generally tough in the Roman era as they had no fridges to keep them fresh.

That'll never catch on.
