| Seems pretty unlikely, I guess they'll see how the Wii release goes.
Anyone know approximately how much it costs to make a next gen console game?

I have read a few articles in the past on dev costs. IIRC the average cost to develop a game for current generation consoles is around $15million US. I remember reading an interview a few years back with the president of Namco who said Ridge Racer 7 needed to sell 500,000 units to break even. Top end games such as Halo 3, GTA IV, and MGS4 had budgets of around $50-60million.
Ultimately it will all come down to the genre, I imagine sports games are down at the bottom of the list in terms of development costs, right after kids games, especially after the first game has been released and the yearly updated versions start coming.

So you're looking at needing 250,000 people to buy the game directly from the producer at £40 a time just to break even?
You can see why it's not coming anytime soon...

| They probably won't release the game on '3rd Gen' consoles, Unless, the game on Wii sells really good. Just to make a game for the Xbox 360 or PS3 costs alot of money, Sidhe aren't a company with that kind of money to spend.

| I hope one comes out, but I really can't see it. Too little demand internationally, just hoping the Wii game will be good. Bit fed up of the old Ps2 gameplay

| I'd of certainly thought there would have been more PS3/Xbox players wanting Rugby League 3 than Wii.

| Well I have a Wii, but there's no way I'm buying RL for the Wii, same as there being no chance I would get the old PS2 out to play RL:WC.
Until they release a newer version for PC or PS3, they won't get a penny off me. I don't want to play a newer version of a game I played 5 years ago, I want a new one with better graphics and better game play.
May sound harsh, but in the current days were you can get graphics like on Fifa and Madden, then I'm not being too harsh.

'"
Why? There's millions more Wii's out there than XBox & PS3, the Wii is a family console and RL's a family game. Why do people struggle to understand the concept of business sense and profit? The biggest consumer bases would be Wii and DS. THAT is why development on the Wii is a priority. Simple mathematics.

So why not buy a new version on the Wii? What's the difference whatever console it comes out on? Whether it's Wii, Xbox360 or PS3, it will still be "a newer version of a game you played 5 years ago". It will naturally have better graphics than the PS2 version because the Wii is capable of full progressive scan.

Because if I'm going to be paying out £20+ then I expect to be able to play it on a platform that I wish. If they can't do that, then I won't buy their game.
For many of us, we have grown up with Playstations and Xboxs and we are used to the controls. Tried playing Super Mario without the nunchuck? It feels so uncomfortable, then trying to click 1 and 2 with the nunchuck in, that's awkward as well.

| Agreed games like Madden and Fifa are life like compared to Rugby League 2/3. I'll give EA sports a buzz.
