I believe clubs had offered loan players (one club offered three players but in return they wanted to be able to sign one of their current injured players) and they could have raised a team however, the owners appeared reluctant and preferred to use the player welfare excuse. It was suggested that they were trying to avoid any confrontation with the supporters organised demonstration hence their suggestion that the game on Friday would be able to go ahead. The reason being that they expected players being available following injury. 

I see Salford have confirmed that their game on Friday will go ahead. This is actually a bigger insult to the integrity of the game. 

Postponement wasn't snnoption because there are no more free weekends to play it


The avoiding the protest thing is just Internet waffle. They haven't been bothered up to now and would only be postponing it.


As I understand it many teams weren't offering players this weekend as their players would be in a poor team and they had a reserve grade game to use anyway.
And if the deal about loans for a signing is true it's a bit underhand and just making it harder for the future games.

We will be given a 48 nil win but because we didn’t play the players missed out on adding to their personal records.
