I'd suggest that if you checked back pre-good friday the number of threads about the Wigan derby and posts where numerous. Wigan had a ticket thread going about 6 weeks pre-match.
If we look at the CC until the week of the game no one really took an interest.
It's now 2 days prior to another derby and zero threads on this board.
I think that speaks for itself. It's not just the amount of derbies is the back to back nature of them.

| yep, a joke, chances are always high we'll have 4 derbies a year, 2 league games, 1 cup and 1 play off game, so having a fifth is pushing it even further.
What are the other options though? There is always the chance of 4, do we just drop the magic weekend? If it's popular this weekend, I think it will continue....

| The cup and the playoff games are likely although not nessasarily dead certs. I'm hoping we finish higher in the league, but if we hold our current position the likely hood of a playoff meeting is unlikely.
We could play Warrington or Widnes or Salford in MM, it's still a local match. Leeds and Hull and Bradford games would also attract numbers. In the end I'm not a current fan of the concept of MM. When it was expanding the game (ie collecting a payment from the areas it was taken to) I could see the financial and strategic arguement. But now it really does seam like an extra game for no other reason than an extra game.
MM could still be done if the RFL feel it is a good concept within the league structure. Just one side would lose a home tie, but if the RFL think they can make it pay, financially then that side should not lose out.
I'm not against gimicks to push the game, it's just this gimick seams to have lost it's gimick for me.

| Yeah, far too many. I'm not going to the Magic weekend and I can honestly say I probably would have were we playing someone else for once.
Isn't this the 7th time we've played them in 12 months now? Something silly like that.

| Definitely too many.
Also is this an extra game on top of the standard home and away league games? If so how is it fair that we get the pies while Warrington get super league's whipping boys? Can we swap? Widnes was after all our traditional "2nd derby" being played on new year's day and Easter Monday following the traditional pie games.

| As a warriors fan, i actually have to agree. Its taking that magic derby game feeling away. We are just bored of beating you now
Only joking, they need to be spread out to create more hype and excitement.
RFL are simply after money and high Sky ratings. Basically floggings us as much as possible.
Wanky Warrington get an easy result, Widnes may as well not turn up

| A sad consequence of a league with never more than 4 or 5 competitive teams at any given moment meaning that they're always going to end up meeting each other in the cups, a ridiculous playoff system where top 4 teams get to play each other twice most seasons, and a pointless setpiece event meant to broaden the appeal of the game nationwide but that takes place 20 miles away from LP and the Piedome and the results of which have no consequences whatsoever.

| The matches at the magic weekend should be 1st play 2nd, 3rd play 4th, and etc. on down.
It would be exciting waiting for the end of the previous weekend's games to see where all the teams are set to play. And the games would mean more as if they are 4 pointers. And some teams wouldn't be getting a 'by' everytime, whilst others have to play the same team over and over again.

Surely it would be acceptable to all to rotate which one of the Ws we play each year, if fact it would keep the concept fresher.
I concur that it should be set last years league placings. This would most likely be the more reliable way to get all competetive matches.

It isn't fair on Wigan or Saints. However since we lost to Widnes ( ) we can't make as much noise about it as you, but please keep complaining!

Can't help thinking that if the table, and form were reversed and the Saints were on top with two derby wins in the bag no one from St.Helens would be wishing for less derby games in a season, no I think they would be slagging
the Pies, and looking forward to another win on sunday. Things being as they are, most Saints fans are not looking to sunday with a good feeling of a win for them. I don't know why? as far as I'm concerned if the Pies don't turn up with their minds fully on the job in hand, Saints will turn us over. On the subject of if there are too many W & Sts. darbies, I agree, there are, great when you win but when sides like the Wire get a bye for there game, it does seem a bit of a bad joke for the hard points Saints and Wigan have to fight for. I know Widnes have put one over us this season, just goes to show "Pigs can fly" so don't give up on sunday. I for one am not counting any chickens..
 Rock 'n' Roll..
